The Administrative Court Granted our motion, on behalf of “Tiv Taam” for a temporary restraining order, barring the Tel-Aviv-Jaffa Municipality from implementing the ” Sabbath Law”

March 2019

The Administrative Court granted our motion, on behalf of “Tiv Taam”, a prominent supermarket chain, for a temporary restraining order, barring the Tel-Aviv-Jaffa Municipality from implementing a municipal bylaw that would have resulted in the closure of supermarkets in Tel Aviv on the Sabbath and on Jewish holidays.

The Court held that the arguments made by “Tiv Taam” are worthy of further deliberation, and that the highly charged issue of the operation of supermarkets on the Sabbath deserves a thorough discussion. For now, and until the Court convenes to hear the case, supermarkets in Tel Aviv will continue to operate as before.

“Tiv Taam” is represented by attorneys Giora Erdinast, Tomer Weissman, Yuval Naim, Shir Ashkenazi and intern Neta Poliak from our Litigation Department.
