Merger Approved! Bank Mizrahi-Tefahot and Bank Igud Will be Permitted to Merge

November 2019

Merger Approved! Bank Mizrahi-Tefahot and Bank Igud will be permitted to merge following an almost unprecedented decision, a first in the past decade, by the Competition Tribunal (Hon. Judge Oded Shaham) that granted the appeal against the decision by the Israel Competition Authority to prohibit the merger. The Judge stated that there is no basis to conclude that the merger between the two banks would substantially harm competition in Israel, despite claims to the contrary made by the Israel Competition Authority. Bank Mizrahi-Tefahot was represented by Giora Erdinast, Head of the Litigation Department, Doni Toledano, Head of the M&A Department, Michal Rothschild, Head of the Competition Law and Antitrust Department, Arik Brenneisen, Partner in the Competition Law and Antitrust Department, Associate Shelly Wechselmann and Intern Dafna Tadmor. An incredible achievement for all those involved!!! For further reading >>  http://bit.ly/34tw5WX; http://bit.ly/2L1nMdk; http://bit.ly/33wlcSR; http://bit.ly/2OSBX5G
