Akamai Technologies has acquired LayerX, an Israeli cybersecurity company developing AI usage control and enterprise browser security solutions, in a transaction valued at approximately $205 million.
Founded in 2022 by Or Eshed and David Weisbrod, LayerX developed a platform to secure employee use of GenAI tools, SaaS-based AI services, and autonomous AI agents directly through existing enterprise browsers, without requiring organizations to replace employees’ existing work environments or browsing habits.
The acquisition further strengthens Akamai’s Zero Trust strategy and reflects the growing demand for technologies that enable organizations to adopt AI tools while maintaining visibility, security, and regulatory compliance.
